Parade Event

Come celebrate the "History of the Borough of Gettysburg." The plan is to organize participants in chronological order according to date - beginning with the original Independence Day in 1776 through to today. We are looking for people/events that shaped Gettysburg into what it is today. An example of our participants so far include:

United States Fife & Drum Corp
Ben Franklin
Betsy Ross
Rev. & Mrs. Dobbin and their 17 children
Kiltie Band of York - Bagpipers - representing Scotch/Irish settlers
General & Mrs. Lee
President Abraham Lincoln
Shriver House Museum - civilian side of the battle
Abraham Lincoln Look-Alike Contestants
1860 Baseball Team with Eddie Plank
President & Mrs. Eisenhower
South Mountain Antique Tractor Club
Fantasyland – Mother Goose
Mayor Troxell
Adams County Apple Queen
Penn Trafford High School Band
Segways
Jeff Sharra - author

The parade will start at 7pm and follow the same route as the Remembrance Day Parade. We will assemble in the Middle School parking lot on Lefever Street, proceed west on Middle Street, turn south onto Baltimore Street, then follow Steinwehr Avenue to the area of Gen. Pickett’s Buffet.

Fireworks are being planned for 10:00pm in the vicinity of Mummasburg Road north of Gettysburg and will be visible from throughout the Borough including the Peace Light area.  Public parking is limited on the Gettysburg College campus. Fireworks are sponsored by the Gettysburg Convention & Visitors Bureau.
