New Oxford Civil War Days
featuring "Burning of the Railroad Bridge"

The New Oxford Area Historical Society and the Conewago Valley Model RR Club are celebrating "New Oxford Civil War Days".
Starting behind the old Western Maryland RR Station, on Golden Lane, there will be a ceremony commemorating the 150th Anniversary of the Confederates passing through New Oxford and the burning of the railroad bridge over the Conewago Creek, as well as other troops passing through New Oxford on the days before and after the Battle of Gettysburg.
There will be a depiction of the Hanover and Gettysburg RR station and a fictional telegraphist sending on the news of the Confederate advance on to the station at Hanover Junction.
There will also be a display of Civil War weapons at the old Western Maryland RR Museum, which will be specially open that evening.
The narrator will be Guillermo L. Bosch, Licensed Battlefield Guide and President of the New Oxford Area Historical Society.
The Station Master and telegraphist will be Jim Dysart, of the Conewago Valley Model RR Club.
Parking will be available in the United Hook & Ladder #33 Parking Lot
