Federal Pointe Inn
The Meade School, which was built in 1896, opened it's doors July 20, 2012. Peter and Elizabeth Monahan purchased the school and have transformed it into an 18 suite luxury Inn. This historic property, whose photos are chronicled in the Library of Congress, is unique in providing upscale accommodations to visitors wanting a boutique hotel experience. Local businessman Peter Monahan will serve as the manager of the newly established Federal Pointe Inn, a part of the Choice Hotels International franchise known as the Ascend Collection.
In 1897, the school, named for General George Meade, welcomed its first high school students at the point of Buford and Springs Avenue. This grand structure is architecturally significant, blending elements of the federal and gothic features often found in the Northeast. Monahan worked with architect, Gary Shaffer, to ensure that the building was restored to its original stature and prominence on the west side of town.
In addition to providing guests with fine overnight accommodations, the Federal Pointe Inn offers event space for small business meetings and conferences. For more information, contact Peter Monahan at info@federalpointeinn.com.
