Eisenhower National Historic Site
Eisenhower National Historic Site is the home and farm of President Dwight D. Eisenhower. Located adjacent to the Gettysburg Battlefield, the farm served the President as a weekend retreat and a meeting place for world leaders. With its peaceful setting and view of South Mountain, it was a much needed respite from Washington and a backdrop for efforts to reduce Cold War tensions.
Tour the President's home, enjoy a self-guided walk around the farm, or join a park ranger for an exploration of 1950s Secret Service operations or a look back at WWII and Ike's problems as Supreme Commander.
Children (ages 7-12) may become Junior Secret Service agents by doing activities in the Junior Secret Service Training Manual. New agents are awarded a badge and certificate!
NEW - cell phone audio tours are now available on site, providing visitors of all ages a closer look at President & Mrs. Eisenhower's life and times in Gettysburg. Visitors can dial 717-253-9265 to select one of many stories about the Eisenhowers, their family and features around their home and farm. Story topics and stop numbers are listed on the Eisenhower NHS website at www.nps.gov/eise/planyourvisit/cell-phone-tour.htm. The tour is free, but normal cell phone minute charges apply. The cell phone tour is made possible by a generous grant from the Dwight D. Eisenhower Society.
