The 1863 Gettysburg Civilians: Hear their stories! Experience their drama!

Our most popular tour, "Memories of the Battle", brings to life the true stories of the 1863 town civilians as they are surrounded by the famous battle. A guide dressed in 1860s attire will lead you through the historic district and back in time to when the battle raged through our town's streets. Evening tours are conducted by candlelight.

Since 1999, American Stories has been bringing Gettysburg's Civil War history to life through dynamic walking tours and interactive programs, all conducted by knowledgeable guides who are also gifted storytellers. Tours last 1 hour 15 minutes and travel 6 - 8 blocks through the Gettysburg Historic District.  American Stories is licensed by the Borough of Gettysburg and our guides are tested and certified.  American Stories offers a wide variety of customized tours and seated programs designed to delight & inform visitors of all ages & interest levels. Other tours and programs:
"Enlist NOW!" interactive soldier program allows kids and kids at heart to step back in time and become a Union Soldier. You'll drill, learn to load & fire the black powder rifle. You'll see up close what the average soldier carried and learn how he spent his time in between battles.   Most Saturday evenings in July.

Civil War Fact or Fiction Tour and try to figure out which of the bizarre Civil War trivia stories are true. Score cards & prizes are provided.

Seated programs, first person programs, and bus tours are available for groups.
